Just wanted to share a few shots taken from my trip to Utah. Although my husband and I are both from Utah, the distance between our two families is about a 6 hour drive(I am from the North, he is from the South). It is hard to believe that it takes about as long to drive from my parents house to his parents house as it does to drive from my home in Virginia to New York City. Crazy, big state! But with such a scenic drive, I certainly won't complain! Believe it or not, but most of these shots were taken from the passenger seat as we drove by. But after editing out a few bug splatters, I think they turned out pretty darn good! The last two shots, however, were a lot more work to get.
I knew that the day we had planned to drive down South was going to be a full moon that night. So I thought that driving down at night would give us the advantage of having our kids sleep most of the time and give me a great photo opportunity! And I am so glad that we stopped- it was absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful! These last two shots were taken at about 11pm using a tripod, 17-24mm, f2.8 with a shutter of 20 seconds (that is LONG!). I just love how the moonlight falls on the rocks and how it almost looks like daytime other than the fact that there are stars in the sky. These pictures don't really do it justice- it was absolutely stunning that night! If you get the chance, I highly recommend driving through Southeastern Utah(Moab) sometime in your life- it is simply stunning! I am lucky to be able to make that drive quite often.
Enjoy!

Simply gorgeous, Mandy. It makes me wish I was back in Utah. In fact, after our anniversary trip to southern Utah, I've told Seth numerous times I would live there happily. Your images really do portray the beauty of it. Breathtaking.
Mandy,
You may not remember me - I'm a Hancock girl from Harkers Island, and now live in Rolesville, NC (outside of Raleigh). I love coming to your site to see your masterpieces, and this one has me just awe-struck! The night time shots in Moab are amazing. I've taken that drive (or at least similar) once before (between Provo & St. George) and will certainly never forget how stunning that Red Rock was. Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks so much for the comments!
