Tag...

I read a lot of other blogs and there is this game that we bloggers do called Tag. Well, I have been tagged by my good friend Mel- I am supposed to tell 6 facts about myself, then tag a few people myself. I thought my blog readers might get a kick out of this! So here are some fun facts about me (what the hey- I will do 8- I am very interesting LOL!):

1- I have lots of strange eating habits. For example: I love to scour through a bag of microwave popcorn looking for the half-popped kernels. It is like finding a hidden treasure. My sweet hubby will hand over his bowl of popcorn when it gets close to the bottom so I can 'hunt' because he knows I like it so much (Isn't that romantic!)

2- My oldest sister and I (we're just 18 months apart) were ENEMIES growing up, especially in Jr. High/high school. Once in Jr. High we were both at a public pool with our separate groups of friends and I was wearing one of her swimsuits. She came over to me with her popular friends and DEMANDED that I take off her swimsuit right there! I never actually took it off, but I am sure you can imagine how mortified my 13 year old self was! I also remember throwing many things at her (including a bottle of lotion, a candle and, once to my eternal regret, a butter knife(eek!) ) My poor parents... But thankfully we outgrew our mutual hatred and are now very, very close!

3- I modeled in high school and loved it, which is strange considering I am very shy and was not the most self-confident teenager! I once did a charity fashion show for our local Nordstroms where the hair stylist backstage ratted my very naturally curly hair into a HUGE Afro. When I walked out onto the runway, the audience started laughing and gawking at my hair :0 It took every ounce of strength in me to keep from crying/running off the stage and to go back out there several times! That was the beginning of my obsession with the flat iron. And to this day when I wear my hair curly I occasionally get this feeling that people are staring or laughing at my huge hair and I often end up pulling it into a pony tail to make that horrible feeling go away!

4- I have a habit of making a really weird oinking noise to scratch my throat. During allergy season, it drives my husband NUTS!!! It is a really strange noise and is completely genetic- my dad and my brother both do it too. Once when I was in college and working at a rec center, a little boy (probably around 8) came in with his mom and started making the mysterious oinking noise!! And his mom kept turning back to him and giving him a look like 'Don't do that in PUBLIC!" I felt like I had found my long-lost brother- and always was extra friendly to him (I am sure he thought I was just weird!)

5- I am constantly leaving cupboards open- another habbit of mine that drives my husband crazy!!

6- I wish more than anything in the world that I could really sing, like Sarah McLachlan, Celine Dion or Martina McBride. And I think it would be so fun to be able to sing Opera. When I saw the movie Phantom of the Opera, I could hardly watch because I was so jealous of Christine- beautiful AND an amazing voice- NO FAIR!!! But having a not so great voice does not keep me from trying(or pretending, I should say!) If you could only see me belting out to Les Miserables when I am home by myself ("On my own..., pretending he's... besi-ide me...") I am certain that that sight would provide you with a lifetimes worth of laughter! Sometimes I can almost convince myself that I have a good voice, but I know it is just wishful thinking! Like those people that audition for American Idol that sound like total crap!

7- Speaking of total crap, that was always me when it came to organized sports- I was actually terrified of them after playing kickball in grade school. I can still remember the embarrassment I felt trying to kick that dang ball only to make contact with nothing but air. Oh, the horror! I was, however, a really good snowboarder when I was a teenager. I never did competitions or anything, but I was pretty good for a girl, especially for back in the 90's.

8- I figure now is a good time to confess to my family and all my blog readers that I was one of the family cereal thieves growing up. Yes, mom, it was me! I am ashamed! We usually got the Malt'o Meal cereals (and they didn't make the good kinds back then), so on the rare occasions when my mom came home with a box of the 'real' stuff (especially Fruity Pebbles- ohhhh, I LOVED those!) I would either take the box and find a place to hide it or I would wake up extra early, sneak down to the kitchen, eat a bowl really quick then later when everyone else woke up pretend like I hadn't had breakfast yet so I could get another bowl. So deceptive, I know, but in my defence, I was not the only one who did it! And I am now convinced that the real reason that my mom rarely bought the good cereals is because she got tired of all the yelling ("Where are the Corn Pops?!" "Zach ate all the Cocoa Puffs!!!" "Angie, bring back the Golden Grahams!!!")

Wasn't that fun? Now I am tagging: Nate and Hill, Cassie and Jaron and Camie. List 6 (or more!) fun facts about yourselves! And anyone else that wants to participate, consider yourself tagged! Send me your link- I would love to read them!

I think we're more alike than we think, Mandy. I could totally relate to most of these, including the half popped popcorn thing and the singing thing.
I won't even go into how lousy I was at sports (except for swimming. It was my only claim to athletic ability) and how many times I kicked the air instead of the ball! I was always picked last for teams. . . .good times.
Of course I can't relate to the curly hair, but just so you know, the first day I saw you in church, I went home and told Seth, "Did you see that girl with that GORGEOUS hair? I am so jealous of her! That was the most beautiful hair I've ever seen!" and then I didn't shut up about it for a week.
Anyway, it was fun to read these! So interesting!
