The Contestants

I wanted to say a few words about each of the contestants and about these shots in particular...

Anna Kate- I absolutely love this shot of Anna Kate! It was one of those split second moments where she looked at me while brushing away her beautiful hair and I just happened to be ready! These types of shots are so rewarding for me because they are truly candid and so difficult to get! Isn't she a beauty? I just love those blue eyes- and I have to say that her baby brothers baby blues were equally as beautiful!

IAN- Those of you who saw that contest last year might recognize this little guy! Ian is such a doll- it was so fun to photograph him again this year! He has grown up so much and has all that attitude that goes along with being a 2 year old! That is what I love about this shot- the attitude in his eyes, his posture and especially the way he is casually holding his lollipop! When I look at this shot I can't help but hear Robert DeNiro saying "You talkin' to me?" Love it!

Kate- How could you not love a shot that includes a polka dotted umbrella and an outfit to match it? I had so much fun photographing Kate and her adorable little sister! Kate had me laughing much of this session from her funny little comments! I have never heard a 2 1/2 year old talk so well and so much! It was great fun!
Leila- Isn't Leila a beautiful baby? Although most of the newborns I photograph do little more than sleep, I feel like I still get a glimpse of their personalities even at this tiny age. From the moment I met Leila there was something particularly graceful about her. And I think it clearly shows in this image! She was such a joy to photograph.

Lucy- Sweet little Lucy! Those precious brown eyes and little bare feet make this shot one of my favorites from that session! Those of you that remember seeing Lucy on my blog months ago might also remember that she has a twin brother. Lucy and her brother were such great sports for me- and it was so fun to watch them interact with each other. And I must say that I was completely in awe of their parents- having twins would certainly be a challenge but they seemed as though it was second nature to them!
Luke- I absolutely love this shot from my session with Luke! I know that all parents want shots of their children happy and smiling, but more often than not the pouting shots are some of my favorites because they are so very REAL. As a mom of two boys, I know that the pout appears at least as often (sometimes more) as the smile and it is every bit as endearing to me (although sometimes I only realize that in retrospect!) And Luke definitely has an endearing pout!

Nicholas- I just love this shot of Nicholas. Those perfectly chubby cheeks and his adorable nose and lips just melt my heart! And the way he is sleeping so peacefully is truly angelic. And for his session, he truly was an angel- he didn't fuss a bit which is a rarity for a baby over 2 weeks!
Sarah- It is always refreshing to me to photograph older children. And Sarah and her little sister Melissa were precisely that! We got so many beautiful shots from their session- I still remembering opening up their session for the first time and literally gasping out loud at some of the shots of them. I just love the sisterly bond I felt between these two. I think this image in particular is so beautiful- something about the softness of her expression just speaks volumes to me about this age. I can see a glimpse of the young woman emerging inside the girl.

Zoie- I just loved this sweet little girl! I have never had a child so content to be photographed! She was so fascinated by me (or more likely my big camera)- it made eye contact a piece of cake! And she has such a sweet smile. One of the things I love about 6-9 month-olds is the ease with which they smile- and Zoie was no exception! Adorable!
