Whenever I have a client book their session, usually the first question they have is "What should we wear?" And being as it is fall and I LOVE fall fashions, I created this guide to give you a little visual!
One of my favorite things about fall fashions is the layering- collared shirts, jackets, vests, textured sweaters, beanies, scarves, dark denim- I LOVE it all! You can see in the outfits I put together above, I included lots of layers. There are two great things about layering when it comes to portraits: First, the combo of textures and coordinating patterns look amazing in photographs and second, it provides lots of variety without having to completely change outfits(jacket on vs jacket off, hat on vs hat off...)! And to be honest, I just love trendy kids clothes! One of my favorite stores for my own boys is Gap Kids- there is just something about dressing my little guys up like hip little men that brings a smile to my face! And if I had a girl- I would certainly own those striped tights (I have a thing for striped tights too! I almost wish I was 6 again so I could wear them!)
By the way, by showing you this, I don't want you to get the impression that you must go out and spend $100/kid on new outfits. Just dig deep in those closets and see what you can come up with! And as always, I am happy to help you make your decision!
Now I want to show you an actual sample outfit on my son- EVERYTHING in this outfit was just pulled from his closet (and I am not a clothes junkie- my kids don't have tons of clothes!) Here he is (isn't he a cute little GQ model?):

Hope that helps! Remember, that the most important thing when dressing you kids is you want them to be comfortable and look like 'them'. So if their superman shirt is their favorite (like my son!), by all means have them wear it!
BTW- stay tuned for another blog contest where a gift card to Gap Kids will be up for grabs! The contest will be open to all clients, friends and blog stalkers!
